Attorney General releases report in Baltimore church scandal.

Maryland’s Attorney General released the 456-page report in Pring of 2023. Their investigation details over 150 abusers within the Archdiocese who are involved in the Baltimore Church scandal that allegedly assaulted more than 600 children over decades. Child Sexual Abuse Attorney Steve Boyd believes the number is much higher. “I started investigating child sexual abuse in the Roman Catholic Church in 1993. I think the coming months will reveal a much higher number of survivors”, Boyd said.

The names of ten alleged abusers were redacted when the report was first released. The report also redacted the names of five ranking officials of the Archdiocese of Baltimore who had “had extensive participation in the Archdiocese’s handling of abuser clergy and reports of child abuse,” according to the Maryland Attorney General’s Office.

Members of the Survivors Network of Those Abused by Priests, known as SNAP, have been calling for the full report’s release since early 2023.
