• The review conducted of allegations, which spanned over half a million pages of church documentation, was available to church leaders. The grand jury speculates the number of victims to be in the thousands

What Happened To Abusive Priests In Pennsylvania?

• In many instances, the Catholic Church has chosen to shield abusive priests rather than stepping up to protect the victims. They’ve moved them between parishes, sided with the offenders, hushed up their vile acts, and refrained from notifying law enforcement.
• Shockingly, leaders of the Church have not faced any repercussions, with some even scaling the hierarchal ladder.
• The 2018 grand jury report points out that Cardinal Donald Wuerl, former Bishop of Pittsburgh, is alleged to have relocated abusive priests to new parishes, hiding their sinful acts.
• Sadly, out of the more than 300 clergy named in the 2018 report, a minuscule number of just two faced with criminal charges.
